Best Bike Trailer For Kids – 2017 Review

Instep Bicycle Trailers are a nice product to use to include the youngest of the family in your biking adventures. If you decide to ride out on an exercise ride like when you are in training for example and have no one to attend to the little ones, just mount up one of the Instep Trailers and be on your way.  I’m sure the little ones will enjoy it. Take a look at these two babies enjoying a moment with their Dad.

Features of the Instep Bicycle Trailers

The Instep family of trailers have many great features. For starters, they provide a cost-effective opportunity to include the whole family when biking. They also make it easy to convert back to the solitary ride when you are finished and need to go back to riding alone. The trailer folds up for easy storage space after being removed. Its attachment set up makes changing out a breeze. The attachment is versatile and will fit on practically any bike. Fold up, mountain, cruiser or touring bike. But I don’t think we want to ride a racing bike with it. 🙂 They have 16-inch wheels to make the ride comfortable. They are capable of holding up to 80 lbs. They all are the same in build but may have a different feature.

Features A Passenger Will Benefit From

Nobody really wants ride unprotected in any case. The trailer comes equipped with a two in one pull-down cover which protects the passenger from rocks, bugs, and any type of debris. It also has a protective flap that can cover the passenger if you get caught in the rain by chance. Another good feature is the fact it has a durable frame because it is made of steel.

These Instep trailers are arguably the lesser quality than the high-end trailers that are available. But this is where I say keep in mind that sometimes the name is just that, a name. They are all basically made the same and perform the same. Now, would you pay $200 for a name or $100 for something without the name but is the same product? 1. very nice, i love cycling but since i had my little boy, i just quit going on my favorite routes with my cycle. i had no idea about these things so thank you for sharing, now when i ‘ll be in the mood of cycling i will take my son too.

    • Thank you. I’m sure he will get a kick out of it when his neck gets strong enough to handle it. Plus it will help you lose any weight you might have gained as well. keep enjoying your bike. I know I do. thanks for visiting.

  2. That’s looks so cute! Until now, one parent would have to attend to other kids while we ride the bike on the trail in the park. Now, we can ride together and just attach the kids to the back! I’m sure they will love it a lot more than sitting in their stroller! I need to get this.

    • It is a great addition to the family if you have small ones. They enjoy being included believe me. I remember when my older brother use to pull me around in his wagon. So I know the feeling. By all means grab one for the family. thanks for visiting.

  3. When my kids were small, putting these things on and taking them off were such a chore it was hardly worth it. I love how one of the features is the ease of putting this on the bike and taking it off and quick and easy storage! I would have loved these new bicycle trailers. Maybe for grandkids? 🙂

    • Yeah, they have to be small to use this. But I know what you mean about back in the day. Now things are so much easier to deal with in a lot of ways. But my question to you is do you still ride? I do and I still enjoy it. Those grand kids would love it I bet. If you haven’t done it in awhile you should try it. I bet you still can roll that bike pretty good and enjoy it. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.

  4. I have to say Ron, this is an excellent product if you have small children – as you mention, it is an extra help to enable you to involve your children in your activities.

Unfortunately I no longer have small children, but there is me thinking laterally and transferring my maternal instinct on to my dog, and wondering whether such trailers could be adapted for canine use.

The videos actually were most useful in showing the best use you can make of the trailer. One thing I question, as you mention safety features, is whether the trailers have seat belts to secure that especially younger children are not catapulted out easily.

    Thank you.

    • Hi, Giulia. To answer your question, it does have a safety harness to the compartment. As far as for your dog there are trailers available for them as well. If you go to Ron’s Cycle Plus on this site you will find one there. Thanks for visiting and it would be great to bring your dog along on your biking ventures. They love to be included with the family as well.

  5. I love that idea so much!
I have two kids and this is just great! A lot of fun for the kids.
I think I will get one. It will benefit my family a lot!

    Thanks for your article.

    • I think the most important factor is the harness to hold the passenger in place along with the bike rider is the most important thing. These particular trailers are supposed to have a good ride for the passenger because of the safety harness it is equipped with. They also are covered to help protect objects or debris. What safety issue are you having problems with?
